The reason for silence: One of the final posts on the old Kellinkston.com! (The Kell Inkston Monthly update, July/August edition!)

First, some suitable thinking music:

So yes,

Yes.

After years of perfect, monthly consistency, July I actually broke the streak and faltered. With the exception of a single character post, nothing else has been published – dang.

Dozens of books, trials at home, and even mortal danger didn’t stop me from posting, but the stars truly aligned for this one, not just robbing me of my time, but doing so in a way that steals the soul and leaves one screaming for mercy.

I’m back now, stronger than ever. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but I’ve sense learned that only applies to people who are ready to catch those pitches on the outfield – otherwise it just makes you bitter, paralyzed, and afraid.

I’ve climbed over another hilltop, and my boulder’s rolled back down, but in a twist from this classic Sisyphean tale, my boulder-pushing only appears to reach no destination. It rolls down to another, new mountainside, and so I push on up into the next mountain, my attitude the single defense from this oblivion. I’ve been cutting my teeth in pretty hard to the outside world lately, and it’s not for nothing, but as you might guess I’m Kell Inkston so I won’t be detailing any of the specifics of what I’ve been doing. Sorry, a part of me wishes I could just write all the time for you, but duty calls.

We have a fair amount to catch up on, so let’s get into it:

1. The 2nd Annual Holy Verses Fanart Contest – winners!

That’s right – these big shots have done their best and for their valiant efforts have been awarded treasures untold (money and books, they received money and books.)

Here’s this year’s rankings:

Grand Prize: “Order, Chaos, and Minions” Franibearr

Second Prize: “Effie Lassifrey” Mei

Third Prize: “OrderIllumo

I would love to tell you that this year’s theme was “white hair” but the truth is people just love all two of my white haired female book characters. The truth is that there’s three right now, but no one knows about her yet, so a secret she’ll remain.

Congratulations to the winners and a big hearty thanks to everyone who participated: here’s looking forward to next year!

My silence, two reasons – one announcement(?!):

How strangely that clock works. How quickly the day passes for an unmastered heart.

So precious is the time we squander in youth, lost just in time to learn how lovely the moments have been.

No, bad poetry isn’t actually the reason I’ve been so distant lately. It’s not you, it’s me.

Being totally tacked down with work is a very large reason why I’ve had so little time with you all lately, but there’s other, perfectly good reasons:

1. I’m a fool and started too many projects again.

Correct. I have fallen in the same trap as I had as a young analyst, creating narratives too many in number to complete, and I’m still battling the effects of that. New exciting ideas I have must be shoved away into one of my idea boxes for safe-keeping, and in my pride I thought myself a master of their containment… until…

Well, let’s just say I’ve been working on two separate game projects, two-to-three webfic projects, and have roughly EIGHT separate novels that have their material half-way or entirely complete.

Kell, buddy, you need to slow down to speed up, okay?

I’ve caught myself, beloved reader, make no mistake – but it’s taken a great amount of restraint to hold myself back with the kinds of things I have been getting done and have been keeping secret, versus actually false-starting on projects. Both have happened.

That said, many many things have been completed in my apparent absence, and they shall be revealed soon enough… one of them right now!

2. A new kellinkston.com!

What you’re about to see is the 70% complete version of the new kellinkston.com website – with construction moving along quickly!

Behold! Get your hands on the latest books, with maximum charm inserted!

Trust me when I say that’s the most put-together piece of the site so far, but we’re moving ahead at a crazy pace. Depending on workflow and general business I foresee this being done as soon as this time next month.

Exciting stuff, isn’t it? Complete tour to follow on release day.

    Farewell:

Thanks for reading, buying my books, and being an awesome person overall. I hope I can continue to release more thrilling stories for you in the years to come, with an even cooler website to boot!

Take care of yourself and those you hold dear,

    Kell Inkston
